The current Houston-area catalog includes published listings from Baytown Animal Services, Harris County Pets, Houston BARC, Pasadena Animal Shelter, and Fort Bend County Animal Services. Coverage differs by organization and can include adoption listings, shelter-held found or stray animals, or a mixed current shelter inventory.
Fort Bend County records preserve the shelter's published status: animals marked AVAILABLE are treated as adoption listings, while STRAY WAIT records are treated as shelter-held found or stray listings.
What this search does not prove
ShelterScan does not cover every shelter, rescue, foster placement, offsite animal, private finder, or community report. Some animals never receive a public photo. A search with no match is not evidence that your pet is absent.
What to do if your pet is missing
- Search ShelterScan with several clear photos and review visually similar leads.
- Contact and, when appropriate, visit animal-control agencies and shelters near where your pet disappeared.
- Check original shelter listings repeatedly; intake photos and statuses can change.
- Confirm every promising lead directly with the organization holding the animal.
- Keep checking microchip records, neighborhood reports, veterinary offices, and other lost-pet resources.
